A Community Fridge is a refrigerator (colloquially "fridge") located in a public space. It enables food to be shared within a community, anyone can put food in and anyone can take food out.

The main aim of Community Fridges is to  enable people facing hardship to have easy access to food.

Community Fridges are normally social spaces that enable people to connect to their communities.

Some Community Fridges also have an associated area for non-perishable food.

Run by locals for locals, the Patea Community Fridge is for those in need at a time they are in struggles.

A time where bills need to be paid or there income has been slashed by government offices.

Designed for the community the fridge is placed out on Middlesex St in Patea South Taranaki between the hours of 8am and 7pm or during daylight saving 8am to 8pm

The fridge has no working motor so they are not taking frozen food.
